![]() ![]() ![]() The disciples weren’t on the stormy Sea of Galilee because they were out of the will of God. P – is for PROVIDENCE “His purpose brought me here.” What they learned about peace conveniently spells the acronym PEACE so we can remember these lessons. We can use this as a template for our learning today. What the disciples learned in Matthew chapter 14, as they encountered a storm shows us what real peace is. Whether it is a correcting or perfecting storm, God is still sovereign over all. In the case of the perfecting storm, we need to ask what God is trying to teach us. ![]() If we find ourselves in a correcting storm, we need to figure out where/when we got out of God’s will and get back into His will. There are also storms that come when we are in the will of God, and sometimes because we are in the will of God. There are storms that we cause ourselves, like Jonah when he chose to not do what God asked him to do and ended up in the whale’s belly. There are two kinds of storms in our life: So how do we grab hold of this inheritance, this peace that is ours? How do we live by faith and not fear as Pastor Nate admonished us last week? God intends for this peace to be ours as Paul says in Colossians 3:15: let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts and in Philippians 4:10: And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Peace is one of the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22. This is an inheritance that’s lots better than money or property! Peace is OURS as believers! But Jesus intends that this inheritance be ours now and for eternity. Wow, just like when you get an inheritance from an earthly relative. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” ( John 14:27) When Jesus was facing the cross, it was as though He made out his last will and testament.ĭid you realize that He mentioned YOU in this will? He left you His peace “ Peace I leave with you my peace I give to you. Jesus told us in some of His final words that he was leaving us with peace. I want to bring you a message of hope this morning. While some of this is due to our differences in personalities, life circumstances, and seasons of life, there are some real differences, We certainly are facing hard times now, and I note at how differently we each respond. I’ve long wondered what it is that makes some people so very resilient in the face of incredible difficulty and troubles. That perfect peace is the Lord Himself within us Jesus intends that this inheritance of peace be ours now and for eternity. Isaiah 26:3 – You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. ![]()
