![]() There are three difficulty levels: Beginner with three features in three possible colors 3 3 = 27 different possible solutions, Intermediate with 4 4 = 256 solutions, and Advanced with 5 5 = 3125 solutions. ![]() The player then attempts to deduce or guess the right feature colors in a limited number of guesses (not available in beginner difficulty). The player can choose from an assortment of colors (red, purple, yellow, blue or green), and a color can be used once, several times or not used. The computer decides the color of up to five features (topper (hair in version 0.4), eyes, nose, mouth and clothes) that are concealed from the player. One of 3125 possible looks for a Purble with five features Purble Shop When the player does not get the features in the wax paper, the computer tells them the move is disallowed. The player makes about five or six (or eight in v0.4) cakes in one of the difficulty levels. At higher levels the specifications become more complex and multiple cakes must be manufactured in parallel on a single conveyor belt. The final score depends upon the number of cakes baked, the number of incorrect orders sent and the efficiency of the player. After a certain number of correct orders are shipped in the box, the player wins the game, and the score is tabulated. If the player sends two or three incorrect orders, the game is over. If the cake does not match the specification on the television, the player is penalized, and the cake gets thrown away. ![]() Elements of the cake include cake pan shapes (square, circular or heart-shaped), flavor of batter (strawberry, chocolate or vanilla), three cake layerings (red, green or white), optional icing (strawberry, chocolate or vanilla), and other decorations (for instance, sugar may be sprinkled on top of the cake, and in rarer cases, flames are applied to iced cakes to create a smooth glaze), and a rotate button in v0.4. Comfy Cakes Ĭomfy Cakes is a hand-eye coordination game, the goal being to fill orders in a bakery by assembling a cake to match a given cake specification on a mobile by controlling a conveyor belt that brings the cake to various stations. This game is not available in Purble Place v0.4, an early version from 2005. A Sneak Peek coin bonus allows the player to expose all remaining cards for a couple of seconds, but every card exposed in this way is counted as a turn. In addition to a jester that automatically finds another match of an exposed card, numerous special pairs are present in the higher levels, such as a card of the cake batter station in Comfy Cakes that shuffles the board when paired, a clock that adds more time to the timer, and a Comfy Cakes chef that automatically finds and matches pairs of cards containing cakes. The Beginner level has one 5x5 grid, Intermediate has two 6圆 grids, and Advanced has four 8x8 grids to solve per game (shamrocks, hearts, smiley faces or gumdrops). As the skill level progresses, a timer appears, the grid size increases, and more similar pictures are used. The object is to clear the tableau in the fewest turns. Purble Pairs is a pattern recognition and memory game similar to Concentration. ![]() The collection has a single home screen that offers three packs of games: Purble Pairs, Comfy Cakes and Purble Shop. This types of changes involve the nuclei of atoms and are therefore in the realm of nuclear chemistry which is a more specialized field of chemistry which is rarer to encounter. Anytime you want to change an atom into a new element you must change the number of protons in the nucleus either by adding or removing them. ![]() Since our new nucleus has a different number of protons than the original nuclei, we have created a new element different from the original two. This is the most common case you will encounter in chemistry.ģ) At very high energies we can get the atoms of different elements moving so fast so that when they collide their nuclei can fuse into one larger nucleus. With a chemical reaction even though chemical bonds have been broken and reformed to create a new chemical, we haven't touched the protons in the nucleus and therefore haven't changed the elements involved. Which as we know is a chemical compound composed of the elements hydrogen and oxygen. Using the hydrogen and oxygen gas example, if we added those gases together and introduced a source of heat like a flame, they would react and combine to form water. Now there is enough energy to break chemical bonds and conduct a chemical reaction where the atoms of different elements can combine into a compound composed to atoms from both elements. For example, if I combine hydrogen and oxygen gas together at low temperatures then I just have a vessel filled with unreacted gas.Ģ) At higher energies we start creating the situation suitable for reactions to occur. You just get a mixture of different types of atoms. Combining two atoms of different elements together depends on how much energy you put into such a collision.ġ) At low energies (think low temperatures essentially) putting together two samples composed of atoms of different elements doesn't usually create a reaction. So in practice we're not really combining elements rather atoms of different elements. When warmed above room temperature, Bromine will vaporise to form toxic red-brown bromine vapour, and iodine crystals will vaporise to form toxic purple iodine vapour. So elements are different types of atoms which are differentiated by their atomic number (the number of protons). At room temperature, Iodineis a dark grey solid. At room temperature, Bromineis a dense red-brown liquid. At room temperature, Chlorineis a toxic, dense green gas.At room temperature, Fluorineis a toxic yellow gas.Down the group, the halogens show increasing relative atomic mass , and increasing melting and boiling points. There is also a trendin the physical properties of the halogen. They have a low density, and low melting and boiling points. He halogens also have similar physical properties: (This is because the shells act as “shielding” from the positive charge of the nucleus) As the number of electron shells increases down group 7, it becomes harder to gain the last outer electron, and the reactivity of the elements decreases. The more electron shells there are between the outer electron and the nucleus, the harder it is to gain an additional outer electron. In chemical reactions, they gain one additional electron to gain a full outer shell. As they are in group 7, they each have seven electrons in their outer shell. This is due to the electronic structure of the halogens. This means that chlorine reacts less vigorously with sodium than fluorine, and bromine reacts less vigorously with sodium than chlorine. The chemical reactivity (how vigorously they react) of the halogens decreases down group 7. ![]() They react with water to produce metal hydroxide solutions (which are alkaline, hence the name of the group). Group 1 elements are also known as the alkali metals, and they have similar chemical properties. ![]() ![]() ![]() It has fed them to the Primetime24 satellite, which WSEE provides with CBS network programs. Out of the Barrioįrom the Bronx to Brooklyn to the East Side of LA and back again, complex calligraphic and pictorial languages emerged that identified neighborhoods and, in turn, those graffiti artists who, anonymously through their tags or style, received the fame they craved and deserved. The graffiti and hip hop artists and advocates featured in the two films – Fab 5 Freddy, LEE, Lady Pink, Dondi, Futura, Crash, Grandmaster Flash, Debbie Harry, Patti Astor, among others, were the celebrated creators and heroes of these two identifiably American art and music movements. Shortly after, Fab 5 Freddy and Lee Quiñones were featured spray-painting in the video of Debbie Harry’s 1981 song, “Rapture.” The 1983 films Wild Style and Style Wars reconfirmed the explosive and highly contagious nature of graffiti and hip hop in New York and throughout the country. It was Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring’s first public exhibition together. The famous Times Square Show in 1980, in a vacated former massage parlor, brought over a hundred New York graffiti artists together and gave me my first full exposure to the movement. “What a quintessential marriage of cool and style to write your name in giant separate living letters, large as animals, lithe as snakes, mysterious as Arabic and Chinese curls of alphabet." No less than Norman Mailer blessed graffiti in his 1974 essay The Faith of Graffiti. This notoriety encouraged graffiti writers throughout the city. “His TAKI 183 appears in subway stations and inside subway cars all over the city, on walls along Broadway, at Kennedy International Airport…” Two years later, a New York Magazine article, “This Thing Has Gotten Completely Out of Hand,” praised the innovation and potential of the graffiti movement. In July 1971, under the headline “’Taki 183’ Spawns Pen Pals,” the New York Times highlighted the work of a 17-year-old from 183rd Street. ![]() Lee Quiñones, Whole Car Cluster 2, 1980-1983. It was, in part, its own subculture loudly accompanied by punk rock, rap, and hip hop, often coming out of the writers’ own boomboxes. Graffiti writing, the very making of this visual language, often became synonymous with a discontented youth culture producing (often at night) anti-authoritarian gestures small and large – from tagging to pieces (short for masterpieces) on walls and subway cars. Beginning on neighborhood walls and under overpasses, sometimes marking gang territories then on subway cars (outside and in), oil tanks, telephone booths, mailboxes, and makeshift exhibition spaces and then into galleries, museums, and private collections, the diversely styled evolution of graffiti has been pervasive, global, and significant in the development of contemporary art.
